Mid-winter is here, and many employees already feel the effects of colder weather and shorter days. Energy levels often drop, motivation slows, and even routine tasks feel more demanding. This seasonal shift can affect productivity and overall morale in the workplace. However, with a few shifts, employees can help their teams stay engaged, warm, and connected.

Here are a few ways to uplift your spirit during the winter months.

  1. Reset in the morning -  have breakfast together with your team.

Split who makes home-brewed tea, coffee or hot chocolate and who brings in biscuits, cupcakes or snacks to accompany it.

  1. Maximise natural light or create a new desk setup for the team.

Position desks near windows. Natural light can significantly improve mood and concentration.

  1. Create warm and welcoming spaces.

Ensure offices are properly heated and provide comfortable seating or quiet areas where employees can relax during breaks.

  1. Create a winter wonderland work day.

A work day with foreign winter wonderland foods and drinks creates a different atmosphere and culture. This makes work interesting, for example, light foreign music or German, Dutch, Russian or Swiss traditions of decor, foods, and drinks of winter traditions.

Winter can be a tough season, but with a few mindful strategies, teams can stay motivated, connected, and ready to thrive - even on the coldest days!
