What I Do Matters – The Spice Of Life
Spice up your life, with Kashmiri Chillie Spice, for every boy, every girl, and people in this world... meet Mishie, who never intended to join the Spice Girls but remains a wannabe DJ. Born in the historical setting of Indian farmers who settled in KwaZulu Natal back in the day, Mishie enjoyed her youth through connection, “Early Sunday mornings, the entire family gathered at my uncle’s nearby farm in front of the television to watch a Bollywood movie”. Mishie recalls, “Running barefoot on the farm, meeting community kids and nearby families face to face, playing together as often as possible, and going to a library and opening a book, this is what we used to do”.
“Somehow, I ended up working in finance all my life, from debt collecting to manufacturing furniture companies, and the food industry. It wasn’t planned, then, I joined Signa Group, my first time working for a shared services company”. Mishie’s role in the betterment of Africa and South Africa ties into Signa Preparing Africa for a Working Future, and her role focuses on the supply chain. “Working with someone else’s money is a lot of responsibility, there can’t be any mismatch of numbers, and it requires focus. In the background, I keep the accounts in order, for the supply chain, ensuring the flow of Signa’s cash management goes smoothly while achieving Signa’s greater mission”.
The most memorable times at Signa Group are all team-building events for Mishie, “Everyone is working all the time and doesn’t have time to get to know each other on a more relaxed or personal level. It is a different environment; we get to speak to our colleagues and have fun with them”. Mishie has a hidden talent that came out on one of Signa Group’s team-building events, and the day everyone went to play miniature golf Mishie’s putter was on fire, “I actually think I am very good at it, and it was so nice, and Tulani one of our directors was on our team. Everyone got along so well”.
Love is the value that resonates with Mishie, it’s one of Signa’s values. “I feel love is the foundation because if you don’t love what you do, you are never going to be happy or grateful. You have to love what you do. On a more personal level, the value of love shows up in my nurturing nature, and care for people even when I am tired, it comes naturally”.
Mishie’s choice to work for a shared services company and continue growing with Signa Group comes from the impact and empowerment that Signa makes daily in people’s lives and witnessing their success.
