In celebration of Women’s Month, Signa Academy Bloemfontein had the pleasure of hosting Miss Kone Selemela for a seminar on entrepreneurship.
Miss Selemela encouraged students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset early on and to consider starting their own businesses while still in school. She pointed out that companies like CIPRO can help with business registration and securing funding from various enterprises. She also mentioned that platforms such as NEF, SADA, NYDA, and IDC are available to youth seeking financial support.
During her talk, Miss Selemela highlighted the high unemployment rate among young people, sharing examples of graduates who have difficulty finding jobs. She advised students to use their qualifications to start their own ventures, accentuating that having a skill can be a major advantage. She also recommended that institutions like Signa Academy consider adding entrepreneurship courses to their programmes.
In addition, Miss Selemela addressed the issue of gender-based violence and noted the importance of improving literacy, particularly among younger students. She encouraged the learners to ask questions, discussed their business ideas, and suggested starting small, such as selling products to their peers.
