Dear Signarians,
We are writing to alert you of a recent phishing attempt targeting our organisation.
Phishing is a type of email/social media fraud where malicious actors (scammers) impersonate legitimate individuals or organisations. They may attempt to trick you into revealing confidential information or performing unauthorised actions, such as providing login credentials, credit card details, or other sensitive information.
In this instance, the scammer attempted to impersonate Yobi Code's director, Andre Coetzee. Thankfully, the phishing effort was thwarted due to Fhumu's quick action in reporting the incident to us. Excellent work, Fhumu!
To protect yourself from these types of attacks, please take the following precautions:
Verify the sender’s identity and email address before responding to any emails;
Do not respond to any emails asking for personal or confidential information;
Stay alert for emails that create urgency and seem to rush you into taking immediate action;
Look out for any mistakes in grammar or spelling.
Do not click on links or open attachments from suspicious emails.
If you receive a suspicious email, do not reply or click on any links. Instead, please contact gene@signagroup.co.za, lerato@signa.co.za or ian@signagroup.co.za.
