Exciting Opportunity: AIM@ Scholarship for Signa Employees’ Children

Signa Artisans in Motion is thrilled to announce the launch of the AIM@ Scholarship programme, designed to support the children of our dedicated employees. This initiative aims to tackle the country's scarce skills shortage by nurturing the next generation of skilled artisans.


Scholarships are offered in the following trades:

  • Electrician

  • Mechanical Fitter

  • Welder

  • Diesel Mechanic


What is a trade:

  • A trade is an occupation that requires an artisan qualification.

  • An artisan is a certified professional, qualified to perform a listed trade according to the relevant legislation.

  • AIM offers apprenticeships that lead to a national occupational qualification, registered with the Qualifications Control for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).

  • The programmes include industry-specific theoretical knowledge, practical modular training, and structured workplace experience.


Trade Course Information:


Electrician

  • NQF Level 4

  • Course duration: 3 years

  • Age requirement: between 16 and 29 years old

  • Have completed Grade 9 with Mathematics and Science

  • Course information: 91761


Mechanical Fitter

  • NQF Level 4

  • Course duration: 3 years

  • Age requirement: between 16 and 29 years old

  • Have completed Grade 9 with Mathematics

  • Course information: 94021


Welder

  • NQF Level 4

  • Course duration: 3 years

  • Age requirement: between 16 and 29 years old

  • Have completed Grade 9 with Mathematics

  • Course information: 94100


Diesel Mechanic

  • NQF Level 4

  • Course duration: 3 years

  • Age requirement: between 16 and 29 years old

  • Have completed Grade 9 with Mathematics

  • Course information: 97592 


AIM@ Scholarship Terms & Conditions:

  • The AIM@ scholarship is available to the parents or legal guardians of children who have been permanently employed within a Signa Group entity for at least one year.

  • The AIM@ Scholarship is only available to biological or legally adopted children of qualifying employees.

  • Training takes place in person at Signa Artisans In Motion, located at Anchor Industrial Park, Unit C3 Cnr Springbok & Taljaard Road Bartlett Ext 7, Jet Park, Boksburg, 1459.

  • The scholarship covers training valued at approximately R200 000.00, including Institutional Training, Workplace Management, Trade Test Preparation, and Trade Test.

  • Signa Artisans In Motion is not responsible for any additional expenses incurred from acceptance or enrolment in the AIM@ Scholarship.

  • The parents or legal guardians of the enrolled apprentice are responsible for purchasing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and the Toolbox required for all courses. These items remain the apprentice’s property after qualification. Finance options are available during the enrolment process.

  • No stipend or travel allowance will be provided, parents or legal guardians cover these costs throughout the training programme.

  • Applications are evaluated by Signa Artisans In Motion management individually based on minimum application requirements, aptitude for the chosen trade, and available training capacity.

  • Successful applicant’s parents or legal guardians will be notified once the application is complete.
