Celebrating International Volunteer Day

On the 5th of December 2023, a day frequently known as IVD (International Volunteer Day) was being acknowledged internationally. Mandated by the United Nations General Assembly, this international observance began in 1985. On this day we recognised the spirit of volunteerism on local, national, and international levels.

Volunteerism has changed businesses, the lives of volunteers, the lives of people, and the continuous growth within groups of people affiliated with their unique purpose to shape our world consistently for the better. The act of kindness and compassion shown to someone through volunteering can become a chain and a reason to help someone else in return.

Signa Group celebrated this day with employees who volunteer within Signa and outside of the workplace during their free time. To everyone in Signa who volunteers, this one is for you, “We’re proud of having Signarians who make the world a better place. Keep up the wonderful work!”

An inspiration of the day, this is Jonathan Gerson’s story.

Jonathan raises the company's spirit by participating in marketing competitions, marketing events, and Mother’s Day poems, and taking pictures with the team.

“It has been great to volunteer for Signa Group to partake in the Kyknet TV series “Stories wat saak maak” video shoot regarding Signa Group’s value.

I have volunteered to design my own t-shirt with all the Signa entities' names to promote Signa Group’s values. I assist the team during lunchtime with transport so that the team can continue with their work and be productive while I assist with lunch”.

Signarian Tulsi Patel shared her inspiring journey, which commenced in 2000 with a modest GBP 1300. Starting as a waitress in Wiltshire, England, she navigated through five countries. In 2022, her captivating story became a focal point at a January wedding, sparking the creation of a Facebook Group. Within two years, the community expanded to LinkedIn, featuring a diverse array of international speakers.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to each and every one of you for your invaluable contributions to bettering the lives of others. Through the #PowerOfOne, Signa believes that by aiding one person, we can create a ripple effect to help many more.
