About the Role

The purpose of this role is to design, develop, and manage high-quality e-learning content within Learning Management Systems (LMS), ensuring alignment with instructional design principles, client requirements, and industry standards. The role focuses on creating engaging, interactive, and compliant digital learning solutions.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Multimedia Design, or related field

• Minimum 5 (five) years’ experience in e-learning content development using Articulate 360, Moodle (or similar) and Adobe or similar.

• Demonstrated experience in developing SCORM-compliant content’

• Minimum of 5 years computer skills including MS Office and Google Suite.


Advantageous Experience


• Experience with QCTO and SETA-aligned programme development

• Familiarity with Learning Experience Platforms (LXP)

• Experience integrating APIs or third-party tools into LMS environments

• Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG compliance)

• Experience with video production and editing for learning content

• Exposure to data analytics tools (e.g. Power BI or LMS reporting tools)

• Agile or project management methodologies (e.g. Scrum)

● Advanced proficiency in Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise, and AI components)

● Strong experience with Moodle LMS administration and course management

● Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects advantageous)

● Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite

● Experience with AI tools used in content creation, automation, and learning enhancement

● Understanding of HTML, CSS, or basic web development (advantageous)

Duties & Responsibilities 

Core Responsibility:

• Design and develop interactive e-learning content using tools such as Articulate 360

• Develop and manage courses within LMS platforms, including Moodle or similar systems

• Upload, test, and maintain SCORM-compliant learning materials

• Apply instructional design principles to ensure effective learning outcomes

• Integrate AI tools and features to enhance learning experiences and content personalisation

• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to scope and develop course content

• Ensure all learning content aligns with quality assurance and compliance standards (e.g. SETA / QCTO where applicable)

• Perform quality checks, testing, and troubleshooting of LMS content and functionality

• Maintain version control and content documentation

• Support reporting, analytics, and learner tracking within the LMS

• Continuously improving content design, user experience, and system efficiency

Strategy & Innovation:

● Lead the contribution to system adoption by all Higher Education employees, championing innovative and creative learning techniques for the adoption of new technology, software products, apps, and websites.

● Direct collaboration with other departments and team members, facilitating brainstorming sessions for creative development and system usage.

● Represent the department in strategic meetings, providing insights on technology trends, digital solutions, and strategic process improvements.

● Providing insights to senior management into technology trends, digital solutions, and strategic process

improvements and the alignment of new digital initiatives with the overall organisational strategy to support informed decision-making and long-term objectives.

Digital Systems Control:

● Oversee and proactively monitor the utilisation of digital systems by internal Higher Education employees to ensure adherence to standards.

● Direct the audit of data quality entered into the systems and present comprehensive reports to management on correctness, completeness, and usage patterns.

● Manage the creation of user feedback reports to inform executive management on the development roadmap and continuous improvement of Signa’s digital products.

● Commission the development of simple-to-understand and user-friendly training material to drive high

user adoption rates.

● Analyse industry tools and trends, synthesising key insights for the executive review, update, and process

considerations for all technology and systems.

● Ensure the maintenance of an up-to-date working understanding of all related Signa

systems/technologies for relevant stakeholder access, in collaboration with the IT department and external stakeholders.

● Manage and coordinate the conversion of the Higher Education’s current content/data to new digital platforms, including the development of official instruction manuals.

● Direct the development of customised reports based on management’s specific informational needs.

● Identify and address training needs for internal staff to meet and exceed system quality standards.

● Manage institutional compliance with relevant bodies for programme delivery.

● Ensure the business aligns with compliant and optimal digital practices.

● Oversee compliance with all governance principles, including POPIA.

● Uphold business ethical conduct by ensuring all actions align with Signa business ethos, professional integrity, ethical behavior, and equitable organisational practices.


Project Management:


● Manage the relationship and technical efficiency of all digital systems – including but not limited to LMS, Articulate and Adobe etc.

● Coordinate and facilitate all necessary meetings for strategic alignment with operational implementation teams, IT, and external stakeholders regarding business expectations.

● Implement and oversee supportive structures designed to increase the adoption and optimal use of all new digital technology.

● Lead the identification, analysis, and understanding of complex issues, problems, and opportunities; direct the comparison of data from different sources to draw robust conclusions; and determine the

most effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions, ensuring consistency in action.

● Take prompt action to accomplish strategic objectives to achieve goals.

● Oversee planning, ensure adherence to, and facilitate the adherence of all stakeholders to agreed project milestones and performance targets.

● Contribute executive input into the drafting of quality assurance policies and procedures related to digital practices.

● Execute processes and digital platforms analysis to identify and implement areas for quality

improvement.

● Approve and prepare reports to communicate the outcomes and progress of all content developmentactivities.
