About the Role

The incumbent must have an understanding of the QCTO Curriculum outline and the structure of occupational qualifications and possess knowledge of technology & knowledge of an e-learning platform for delivering training. The Incumbent will be responsible for planning and preparing logistics for training. Support learners during the learning process and facilitate learning using different facilitation methodologies. Conduct assessments and ensure quality Assessment evidence are submitted for moderation. The Incumbent must have experience in dealing with learners living with disabilities. The role of the Computer Technician Trainer will be responsible for teaching students the skills and knowledge needed to repair, maintain, and troubleshoot computer systems and hardware. Their objective is to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the field of computer technology and repair.


  • National Diploma – NQF6 in Information Technology

  • Certifications: Industry-recognized certifications like CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft MCSA will be an added advantage

  • Facilitator and Assessor course will be an added advantage.

  • Constituent Assessor registration with MICT Seta will be an added advantage

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of Information Technology industry.

  • Proven experience in teaching and/or facilitation.

  • Proven experience in creating engaging and interactive e-learning content.

  • E-learning content writing experience will be an advantage e.g. Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360. Powtoon, Canva etc.

  • Extensive experience in the SETA’s/training legislation, understand assessment and moderation processes.

  • Experience in a Learner Management System - an advantage

Duties & Responsibilities 

The duties include the following:

Plan and prepare for facilitation

  • Prepare lesson plans and any other learning aid required to deliver training.

  • Utilizing different facilitation methodologies to deliver training.

  • Ensure training logistics are catered for.

  • Collaborate with campuses to ensure that all logistics are arranged as required.

  • Deliver training as per the Roll Out Plan.

  • Ensure learning environment is arranged to meet organisational and legislative requirements for safety and accessibility.

  • Conduct research and / or appropriate improvisation in order to augment and inform updates and review of learning material and facilitation.

  • Guide learner on completion and submission of internal assessments

  • Conduct assessment of Knowledge and Practical module evidence

Facilitate learning

  • Cater for the needs of learners, possible learning barriers, previous learning experiences, literacy and numeracy levels, language, culture, special needs, and different learning styles.

  • Use key questions, scenarios, triggers, challenges, problems, tasks and activities as appropriate to the situation.

  • Ensure facilitation approach and use of facilitated activities enables learners to draw from and share their own experiences and work out and apply concepts for themselves.

  • Use a combination of relevant facilitation tools, resources and methodologies to suit specific learner groups

  • Conduct formative and summative assessments and submit in accordance with ETQA requirements.

  • Provide input into the learner profiling for workplace and collaborate with relevant stakeholders for learner wellbeing.


  • Conduct Assessments of learner assessment evidence

  • Compile Theory and Assessments Reports

  • Make recommendations on improving learning material.

  • Provide Feedback to the learner on their performance and provide guidance on remediations to be done.

  • Ensure Assessments are in line with the Academic QMS/QCTO/Seta requirements.
